Allahabad University: PhD registration starts tomorrow; UGC NET, CSIR NET, ICAR scores valid for admission

The University of Allahabad (UoA) will begin the Allahabad University PhD admission 2026 registration from tomorrow, September 2. Candidates can apply for Allahabad University PhD 2026 registration on the official website at allduniv.ac.in by September 25.

For AU PhD admission 2026 for the academic session 2026-27, the UGC NET and CSIR-NET exam scores held in December 2025 and June 2026 will be valid for PhD admission.

Additionally, Biotechnology Eligibility Test (BET-DBT), DHR-BRET, National Board for Higher Mathematics (NBHM) Doctoral Scholarship Examination, Visvesvaraya PhD scheme, GATE, JEST and ICAR exam scores will also be considered, wherever applicable, in accordance with the eligibility criteria mentioned in the AU PhD admission brochure 2026.

AU PhD Admission 2026: Special provisions

This year, Allahabad University revamped PhD rules for duration, extension and re-registration and also added provisions for women scholars, As per the revised rules PhD course duration including coursework, will be for a minimum duration of three years and a maximum of six years duration from the date of enrolment in the PhD.

Notably, women scholars and persons with disabilities (PwD) with more than 40% disability can be allowed to get a one-time special extension by the university’s VC, permitting them to complete PhD course within a maximum of eight years duration.

AU PhD Admission 2026: Reservation criteria

The PhD reservation of seats shall be applicable as per the government of India and UGC norms, as shown below.

• Scheduled Castes (SC): 15%
• Scheduled Tribes (ST): 7.5%
• Other Backward Classes (Non-Creamy Layer): 27%
• Economically Weaker Sections (EWS): 10%
• Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PWD): 5% (Horizontal Reservation)

Furthermore, candidates willing to apply to more than one subject will be required to submit a separate online application and registration fee for each subject.
