NEW DELHI: The multinational corporation, Amazon has launched a virtual internship program for the students in India. The summer internship program has been shifted in online mode due to the lockdown enforced to control the spread of coronavirus in the country.
The company has virtually recruited undergraduates, MBA students, and graduates for various business roles across technology, consumer business, operations and finance. All the students will be working on various projects remotely from home.
Welcoming the class of summer interns, Amit Agarwal, country head, Amazon said, “Happy to welcome our summer interns. Thanks to the teams who made a virtual internship possible. We remain committed to our employees, customers and communities. Wishing our interns a great learning experience at Amazon!”
The interns have been assigned a virtual curriculum spread across a span of six to eight weeks.
Opportunities
The program includes mentorship from a senior official at Amazon, moderated group discussions, opportunities to connect with other interns and fireside chats with senior leaders. The company will also hold networking events for the interns.
Hundreds of interns also got the opportunity to attend the leadership conference with senior executives of Amazon hosted by the student program team of the company.
The internship intends to hone the leadership skills and innovative talent of the students.
Due to the lockdown conditions, several summer internships were either cancelled, deferred, or cut short due to logistical issues.
In April, the Union Government also recruited students from Indian Institute of Management for virtual internships in ministries battling against coronavirus.
