Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham students grab first prize at EngiNX 2018 Grand Finale hosted by TCS

MUMBAI, SEPTEMBER 3 : The grand finale of the sixth edition of EngiNX – Engineering for the Next Generation which is a premier engineering and Internet of Things (IoT) challenge, was hosted by Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) on August 31 at its Olympus Center, Thane in Mumbai. The theme of Digital Twin i.e., a digital copy or replica of a physical asset or a system was given to the participants by TCS, which is a leading global IT service, consulting and business solutions organization.

EngiNX experienced over 75,000 registrations from 1600 institutes across the country for this edition. The qualifying round saw over 8500 participating teams and the selected ones had to propose a use case for a digital twin of a product, process or a system in the areas of smart manufacturing, smart ecosystems, smart mobility, smart machines, and smart health.

With an overwhelming response in participation, the participates completed the preliminary rounds and there were five teams which made their way into the grand finale. For the grand finale, the selected teams had to create and showcase their digital twin with all their physical, digital systems and algorithms.

The following teams were announced as winners of the event by a panel of esteemed judges:

• Winner - Team Vision – Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Coimbatore – Smart Manufacturing (Grand Prize – Rs. 5 Lakh)

• 1st Runners-Up - PSGiTech-2 - PSG ITECH, Coimbatore – Smart Machines (Prize – Rs. 2.5 Lakh)

• 2nd Runners-Up - Netaji Subhash Engineering College, Kolkata – Smart Ecosystem (Prize – Rs. 1 Lakh)

In addition to the prizes, the finalists also received provisional offers to join TCS after completing their engineering degrees.

The contest has emerged as a great platform for students to showcase competitive spirit and talent in emerging areas."
