Subscribe NowThe Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) has announced a major revamp of its selection process for government job recruitment across various departments. According to the new policy, the preliminary exam will only be conducted if the number of applicants exceeds 200 times the number of vacancies.
In a major shift from its previous recruitment process involving a multi-stage selection process, the commission stated that it will only conduct a single-stage exam if there are not enough applications. For example, the APPSC screening test for 100 and 200 vacancies will only be held if the number of applications exceeds 20,000 and 40,000, respectively.
The recruitment exam for APPSC Group 1 , 2, 3 and other services was often conducted in multiple rounds - preliminary and mains exam. As per the old rule, the commission conducted both prelims and mains exam if the application crossed 25,000, irrespective of the number of vacancies.

In an effort to simplify the selection process, the commission will now conduct a single exam. The changes in the process are aimed at streamlining the recruitment, reduce candidates’ exam-related stress, and shorten the time taken to complete a hiring process. This would mean that several exams for various departments may have only one exam.
The updated rules have been implemented in the recently announced recruitment for Forest Section and Beat officer in Andhra Pradesh Forest Subordinate Service.
Both the APPSC screening test and mains exam will be objective-type and held in offline OMR-based mode.
