While sharing achievements of one year, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in Odisha noted that the age limit for government jobs has been increased from 32 to 42 years. In May this year, the Odisha cabinet chaired by chief minister Mohan Charan Majhi approved raising the age limit for applying for government services to 42 years.

Odisha government’s decision aims to provide enough opportunity to overage aspirants to participate in different recruitment examinations. The age limit will further be relaxable in case of ST, SC, SEBC, women, ex-servicemen and PwDs, as prescribed by the government. The state government has started the recruitment process for over 40,000 government posts and more than 29,000 posts have been filled through the recruitment fairs in a year, as per BJP.

“In the previous government, the development of youth was not given priority. The youth of the state were forced to leave their own state and go to other states to work. But after the people's government came, the development of youth has been given priority,” said BJP Odisha in a post on X.

Additionally, 11.25% reservation has been provided in education for students from Socially and Economically Backward Classes (SEBC) category. Majhi government has also implemented the Odisha Public Examination (Prevention of Unfairness) Act, 2024, to make the recruitment process transparent and fair, BJP asserted.

“The people's government has started working on how the youth of the state can get employment in the state and contribute to the development of the state. Investment worth Rs 16.75 lakh crore has come to Odisha, due to which industries are being built in the state and employment opportunities have come to lakhs of youth,” BJP added.
