ASI allows applicant to appear for interview after CAT order, keeps result in sealed cover pending final verdict in recruitment case

The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) has issued an addendum for recruitment to 67 Deputy Superintending Archaeologist posts, allowing one candidate to participate in the interview process.
In the latest notification, ASI said one candidate has been allowed to appear for the interview stage on a provisional basis after an interim order from the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT), Principal Bench, New Delhi. The case is currently under legal consideration.
While the recruitment process continues, officials have made it clear that this decision is only to comply with the tribunal’s directions and does not indicate any final outcome regarding the candidate’s selection.

As per the notice, the candidate, Gudi Surya Prakash, will be permitted to take part in the interview process when it is scheduled. This follows an interim order issued by the tribunal in September 2025 in a case filed against the Union of India and others.
However, his participation will remain provisional. Authorities have clarified that allowing him to appear for the interview does not confirm his eligibility or selection in any way.
The notice also states that his result will be kept in a sealed cover and will not be declared unless the tribunal grants permission. This is to ensure that the process remains in line with the ongoing legal proceedings.

The addendum further notes that the candidate will not gain any special rights from this provisional inclusion. His candidature will depend entirely on the final outcome of the case and any related proceedings.
Meanwhile, all other terms and conditions mentioned in the original recruitment notification and earlier updates remain unchanged. The selection process for other candidates will continue as planned.
