The Assam government announced that the offline classes for Class 12 to postgraduate students will start from September 6.

NEW DELHI: The Assam State Disaster Management Authority issued COVID-19 guidelines for resuming physical classes in the state. Postgraduate, graduate, and higher secondary final year students with at least one dose of vaccine will be allowed to attend physical classes. The Assam government announced that the offline classes for Class 12 to postgraduate students will start from September 6.
Assam schools are allowed to reopen for the first three days only for the vaccination of students, teachers and staff. However, the government said Class 12 students who are under 18 years of age and if not vaccinated, will also be allowed to attend the offline classes.
“There should not be more than 30 students in a section.The head of the institution will assess the required numbers of sections and open more sections accordingly., if required,” according to the school reopening guidelines.
The state government has allowed to reopen hostels reopen but only for fully vaccinated postgraduate, undergraduate, and HS final year students.
Physical classes for GNM, Nursing and Technical courses have also been allowed to resume, with students, teachers, and support staff who are vaccinated with at least one dose.
The government instructed all educational institutions to provide quality virtual options for classes other than postgraduate, undergraduate, and HS final year students.
On August 26, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma had announced reopening of schools for Class 12 and colleges for postgraduate students from the first week of September. However, the government dropped the plan due to health concerns.
