BHU will be organising its 102nd convocation ceremony on December 10, 2022. A total of 37,896 students will be receiving their degrees at the event.

NEW DELHI: Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi will be holding its 102nd convocation ceremony on December 10, 2022 from 10 AM at the Swatantrata Bhawan auditorium. The university will be holding a convocation after a gap of nearly three years due to the covid-19 pandemic.
A total of 37,896 students will be receiving their degrees while 91 students will also be presented with various medals by the university. The BHU gold medal for the sessions 2019-20, 2020-21 and 2021-22 will be awarded during the ceremony. BHU will be giving degrees to 11,750 candidates of the 2020 batch; 12,032 candidates from 2021 academic year and 12,050 students from year 2022.

The university has invited BHU alumnus and Pala Alto Networks, CEO and chairman, Nikesh Arora as the chief guest of the ceremony. Previously, a total of 11,529 degrees were awarded to the graduating students at the 101st convocation ceremony last year. According to BHU, as many as 732 students received their PhDs, 4,511 students were conferred their postgraduate degrees and 6,272 students received their graduate degrees.
While addressing the curtain-raiser press conference, BHU, vice-chancellor, Sudhir Kumar Jain talked about the new BHU alumni portal- alumni.bhu.ac.in that has been designed with an objective to connect with their alumni base in an efficient way to organise, manage and maintain relationships with them. He also listed few of the new initiatives taken by the university during the course of the past one year.
While speaking about the convocation, Sudhir Kumar Jain said that the university fraternity has been excited and delighted for the convocation which is being organized after a gap of almost three years, due to the Covid19 pandemic. "Banaras Hindu University is a very unique institution and is known for the special bond it has with its students and alumni. The convocation is an opportunity to rediscover, recollect and further strengthen this bond," he added.
