BHU announces mop-up round for PG admission 2024; list of vacant seats on August 29

NEW DELHI: Banaras Hindu University (BHU) has announced to conduct a mop-up round to fill vacant seats for BHU PG admissions 2024. Fresh registration will not be required to participate in the BHU PG mop-up round counselling 2024. Candidates who have not been allotted seats will be considered and will be allotted based on the merit. To calculate the vacant seats, the withdrawal option will be disabled till 6 pm on August 28.
Along with the BHU PG mop-up announcement, the university has also announced the complete schedule for admission into various postgraduate courses. “Mop-Up round shall be applicable for all PG courses including GDPI/ Practical Test/ Physical Test based course provided that the candidate has appeared in respective GDPI/ Practical Test/ Physical Test and qualified,” it said.
There will be only one round of mop-up seat allotment. Therefore, there will be no provision for any upgradation. Since there will be no fresh registration for the final round, the university has published a mop-up application form along with the notification. Eligible candidates have been instructed to carry the form and report in person at the respective department or centre on September 3 and 4 between 11 am to 4 pm with all relevant documents.
Who is eligible for BHU PG mop-up round?
The eligible candidates for Mop-Up round allotment will be those who were previously registered for BHU PG Admissions but currently do not hold any admission seat, in regular or spot rounds, for whatsoever reason. The following candidates will be considered for the final round counselling.
- The candidates who had cancelled or chose to withdraw their allotted seat.
- The candidates who defaulted or did not pay fee after seat allotment.
- Waitlisted candidates in regular and spot rounds.
Further, the university advised candidates to appear for only one programme. “In case of multiple applications, the candidature may be cancelled altogether,” it added.
Moreover, candidates will have to submit a Demand Draft (DD) of Rs 2,000 in favour of "The Registrar, Banaras Hindu University" payable at Varanasi as security deposit.
