Companies have been asked to channel CSR funds towards school and college infrastructure, child nutrition and other development priorities.
PATNA : Bihar Chief Secretary Pratyaya Amrit on Friday urged central public sector undertakings, banks and corporate houses to allocate a substantial portion of their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds towards improving infrastructure in government schools and colleges, and providing child nutrition.
Amrit was speaking during an orientation programme on the effective implementation of the Bihar State CSR Policy, 2025. "Child welfare should be the foremost priority for everyone because children are the future," he said, according to an official release.
Amrit called upon corporate entities to focus on providing "food baskets" in schools to improve the health and nutritional status of children, it said. He stressed the need to align CSR funding with the state government's development priorities to accelerate Bihar's inclusive and sustainable growth.

Under the CSR policy, companies can either transfer funds directly to the Bihar State CSR Society or select projects listed on the dedicated portal and release funds to the respective implementing agencies, Amrit said.
Representatives of several CPSUs, leading corporate houses and banking institutions attended the programme, the release said. During the occasion, Finance Department Secretary (Expenditure) Rachna Patil made a presentation on the vision and implementation timeline of the CSR policy and explained its six-stage process, from registration to utilisation of funds, it added.
