BPSC scraps recruitment for 1,711 assistant professor posts in Bihar medical colleges; fresh notice expected

The Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) has cancelled its recruitment advertisements for 1,711 Assistant Professor (Speciality) posts in medical colleges and hospitals across the state. The commission has announced that a fresh recruitment advertisement will be issued which will be based on a revised requisition from the Bihar Health Department.

The decision has affected BPSC notifications which were published on April 4, 2025, for regular recruitment to assistant professor posts across various specialities and faculties in medical colleges and hospitals under the state health department.

According to the commission's latest notice, the advertisements have been cancelled because the Health Department withdrew its earlier request to fill the vacancies. The department is expected to submit revised requirements, following which BPSC will initiate the process of issuing a new recruitment advertisement.

BPSC Assistant Professor Recruitment: What candidates should know

The cancellation means that the earlier advertisements will no longer be considered the basis for recruitment to these posts. Candidates who were preparing to apply or had been following the recruitment process will have to wait for the revised notification with updated information.

The recruitment drive was originally planned to fill regular Assistant Professor (Speciality) positions in speciality departments, like Paediatrics, Anatomy, Anaesthesia, General Medicine, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Biochemistry, Pathology, Radiology and Microbiology.

Candidates who are interested in the recruitment should check the official BPSC website, bpsc.bihar.gov.in, for the revised advertisement and further announcements. The commission has not announced a timeline for the fresh notification related to assistant professor posts. Details regarding the revised number of vacancies, eligibility, application dates and requirements are yet to be announced.
