BITS Pilani, DIAT Pune to launch certificate courses, collaborate on research in national security

The BITS Pilani and DIAT Pune partnership aims to focus on joint research, technology, upskilling of professionals, and nurturing entrepreneurship in technology domains.
NEW DELHI : The Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS) Pilani, has signed an agreement with the Defence Institute of Advanced Technology (DIAT), Pune, on December 4. Both institutions will engage in knowledge-sharing activities including workshops, seminars, and conferences focused in the fields of national security, the BITS Pilani statement said.
According to the BITS Pilani statement, joint research work will be an area of focus for this collaboration. The partnership will be facilitated through the Center for Research Excellence in National Security (CRENS) established at the BITS Pilani.
Both institutes will also conduct research projects such as short-term consultancy assignments to address industry issues and long-term initiatives to explore emerging and future areas. The collaborations will include the usage of lab infrastructures, faculty members, and research scholars.

The new partnership aims to focus on joint research, develop technology, upskill professionals, and nurture entrepreneurship in technology domains. BITS Pilani and DIAT Pune will also deliver certification courses in a hybrid format. The certificate programmes will cater to, technology, upskilling professionals, and nurturing entrepreneurship in technology domains, the BITS Pilani statement said.
Ramgopal Rao, the vice-chancellor of BITS Pilani, said: “Our partnership with DIAT Pune reflects a shared vision that through research and innovation, we can synergistically elevate the defence capability of India and give a technological push to India. Through CRENS we aim to address the veritable challenges and bring about self-reliance in the strategic sectors.”
BHVS Narayana Murthy, the vice-chancellor of DIAT Pune, said: “DIAT Pune is committed to fostering India’s defence technological advancements through focused research, innovation, and skill development. BITS Pilani has always been at the forefront of innovation and our partnership with the prestigious institution will allow us to syndicate resources and expertise to address challenging issues hindering National Security and create an ecosystem for collaboration, innovation, and entrepreneurship.”
