BITS Pilani, MBRDI collaborate for research on advanced technology

NEW DELHI: Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani (BITS Pilani), has collaborated with Mercedes-Benz Research and Development India Private Limited (MBRDI) to conduct advanced technology research. According to the official statement, this partnership aims to create a framework for collaborative research focused on developing innovative technology solutions and enhancing academic cooperation in higher education and projects.

Ramgopal Rao, vice chancellor, BITS Pilani said, “We are committed to promoting innovation and excellence in research and education, and this MRA with Mercedes-Benz Research and Development India is a major step in that direction. With the help of MBRDI's corporate experience and our academic competence, we want to make ground-breaking discoveries that will benefit not just our institutions but also society at large. This partnership demonstrates our commitment to providing our researchers and students the best possible chances to work on innovative initiatives and create answers for pressing problems. We also look forward to continuing our long-term relationship of talent placement and development for interns and graduates at MBRDI."

Joint research and development projects

According to the BITS Pilani official release, the partnership will focus on an opportunity in the mobility industry through the advancing and development of technologies, The collaboration will include joint R and D projects, academic and professional events, and the facilitation of researcher and student exchanges. Additionally, the partnership allows for shared laboratory resources, mentorship of research students, opportunities for co-funding, publication of research papers, and protection of intellectual property.

Boost digital skills

According to the university statement, the agreement aims to enhance digital skills within the nation's workforce, fostering increased collaboration between industry and academia. This will streamline research efforts, focusing on software development with an emphasis on data and AI, electric mobility, and transformative technologies like generative AI. Led by Poonam Goyal, Amit R Singh, and Navneet Goyal, the partnership has already initiated several projects.
