NEW DELHI: Commerce students have various course options after Class 12 to equip them with necessary skills before they enter in the business world. Common University Entrance Test (CUET 2025) is the single national-level examination for UG admission in over 300 participating colleges in India.

Several universities conduct their own entrance examination to fill seats for courses such as BCom, BBA Finance, accounting, financial management.

Students who wish to pursue higher studies in commerce stream will have to build their problem solving skills, basic mathematical awareness, team management and leadership, and should be tech savvy with strong communication and analytical skills.

A student taking admission in a government college for a BCom degree in India will have to pay an average fee of Rs 10,000 to Rs 50,000 per year. Mumbai colleges charge fees starting from Rs 7,500 per year. The fees in Delhi University colleges may vary between Rs 65,000 to Rs 90,000 for a 3-year degree course.

“Private institutions would have a significantly higher fees structure. Depending on the campus, an institute like Narsee Monjee may have an annual fee of Rs 1,00,000/- to Rs. 2,25,000,” the CBSE said.

BCom entrance exams after Class 12

Commerce students who have completed or are going to appear in this year’s Class 12 board exam can check details of BCom entrance exams and eligibility criteria for admission.

Common University Entrance Test (CUET 2025) - The National Testing Agency (NTA) will conduct the CUET exam for admission to BCom and several other UG courses in central, state, deemed, and private universities. The CUET UG exam 2025 will be held from May 8 to June 1

NMIMS-NPAT 2025 - Narsee Monjee conducts a national test for various courses in finance and commerce at Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Indore and Dhule campuses. The NPAT 2025 exam is conducted on multiple dates ranging from January to May.

BCom Common Entrance Test (CET) - Indraprastha University, Delhi conducts the entrance exam for its admission to its affiliated colleges.

SSSIHL-Under Graduate Test (UGT) - Admission to BCom courses at SSSIHL University, Andhra Pradesh is done based on the score obtained by candidates in the college entrance exam.

Jindal Scholastic Aptitude Test (JSAT 2025) - Jindal School of Banking and Finance, Sonipat, Haryana conducts its own entrance exam for admission in various courses in BCom.

Career options after Class 12 for commerce students

BCom graduates will be allowed to apply for Indian Civil Services and Indian Audit and Accounts Services recruitment exam conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). They will also be eligible for government jobs like Planning Commission, accounts clerk, accounts assistant, tax assistant, excise officer, assistant collector, district treasury officer, and assistant registrar after clearing the recruitment exam.
