NEW DELHI: CAT 2022 to be held on November 27 by IIM Bangalore. All aspirants preparing for Common Admission Test (CAT) share the same goal - scoring high to secure admission at one of the top IIMs. CAT is a national level MBA entrance exam conducted by one of the IIMs for admission to MBA/PGDM of IIMs and other b-schools in India. Though preparing for the CAT exam is an arduous task, candidates with dedication and perseverance and the right CAT 2022 preparation strategy can ace it with a good percentile.
Though all sections of the IIM CAT entrance exam are difficult, Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning is the most terrifying. As the difficulty level of this section increases every year, it is nearly impossible to envisage what types of sets will be in the actual CAT exam. This section can only be aced with right preparation and strategy. Here are some tips on how to ace the DILR section and achieve 99+ percentile.
DILR section is quite uncertain to predict. Keep in mind CAT 2022 syllabus and previous trends and solve as many questions as possible. Candidates planning to appear for CAT 2022 are advised to solve problems from the following topics.
Tables & its variants
Bar Chart
Line Graphs

Miscellaneous data types – Spider, Triangle, Scatter Diagram,
Different types of LR Sets:

Tournament & Games

Cubes & Venn Diagrams
Puzzles
Most students often get stuck in complex problems and waste most crucial time around them. Luckily, candidates can get over this through advanced level practice.
There are two ways of finding advanced level DI and LR problems:
First is previous year CAT papers
And second one is CAT mock tests/ practice sets
Many candidates are not able to figure out which sets are easy and which ones difficult. Candidates must be able to classify the sets quickly as easy, medium and tough and solve first easy and medium ones. Thus they save a chunk of time.
The best solution to this is to practice a lot of CAT mock tests and CAT sample questions test series. There are free resources for CAT preparation, providing mocks, question banks, etc. Solve puzzles so that you can get used to logical thinking which is key to crack the CAT DILR section.
Speed matters most as there are sets in CAT which involve calculation. Though there will be a screen calculator in the CAT exam, being good at calculation will save a lot of time. Tables, squares, cubes, decimal values, fractions, the percentage should be on your tips. The faster calculation is key for scoring high in the CAT entrance exam DI section, and one can achieve it with daily practice and mock tests.
