The ministry of education introduced the Automated Permanent Academic Account Registry (APAAR) in line with the National Education Police (NEP 2020) to create a lifelong digital identity for every student.
The board has directed all schools to create APAAR IDs for its students. The step was taken to provide a unified record of students' academic and non-academic achievements, to enable data-driven decision-making for personalized learning and effective policy planning, and to support seamless transitions during inter-school transfers, and enhance transparency, it said.
APAAR ID is a unique 12-digit identifier introduced to consolidate students' academic and extracurricular records in a single secure digital platform. This platform will allow students to store and track their achievement, exam results, learning outcomes, and participation in activities such as olympiads, sports, and skill training.

Step 3 - School authorities will have to crosscheck all details including name of the student, date of birth, Aadhaar number, on the UDSIR+ portal are entered correctly.
Step 4 - After entering the data, schools will be able to generate the APAAR IDs using the UDISE+ portal, which will also be securely linked to students' DigiLocker accounts. A confirmation message regarding the linking of accounts will be sent to parents.
Step 5 - Schools have been instructed to include the APAAR ID of students in their schools IDs.
