NEW DELHI: The questions on the English (Language and Literature) paper of Class 10 Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) had balanced questions. Analysing the questions in the English question paper as direct, Sanchita, PGT English, Pacific World School said: “Students found the reading comprehension questions to be direct. The paper could cater to all levels of students.”
The questions were according to the CBSE English sample paper. The Class 10 English question paper comprised three sections. All the sections were compulsory.
Neelima Kamrah, Principal KIIT World School Gurugram however said that majority of students who appeared for the English paper today found Section A to be time-consuming. In the Literature section, Kamrah said: "Questions were straightforward but required a thorough study of the chapters. Analysis, deductive reasoning, and critical thinking were the foundations of the questions. Most students should have been able to attempt the long-answer questions."
The Writing section included familiar topics, and allowed students enough opportunity to express themselves, the principal added.
According to MRG School, Sakshi, PGT English, Rohini, Class 10 English Language and Literature question paper was balanced. The PGT English teacher further added that the question paper could be well attempted by the students.
“Reading Passages were easily comprehensible however coupled with gnarly questions. In addition to this, Analytical paragraph writing also baffled the students,” she added.
According to the students, the teacher added: “The Literature section was effortless as compared to reading passages. On the whole, the exam fetched ambivalent reactions from students and teachers alike.”
Describing the CBSE 2023 English exam question paper as not too lengthy and could be completed in time, Sheetal Mathur, English Teacher, Orchids The International School, Sonipat, said: "In literature, a few questions were analogy based but easy, rest were straight forward, while the reading section had a few tricky questions."
"Writing section was also easy to attempt and straight and grammar was also easy to attempt," Mathur added.
Terming the English language literature paper as fairly balanced with a moderate difficulty level, Prerna Pandit, TGT English, DPS Indirapuram said: "The questions were quite direct and in accordance with the pattern of the CBSE sample paper."
