The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has opened the applications for its Central Sector Scheme of Scholarship (CSSS) for college and university students for the academic year 2025-26. The last date for submission of the online application form is October 31, 2025, for both fresh scholarship and renewals.

The scholarship amount for the first three years would be Rs 1,000 per month, paid for 10 months, that is Rs 10,000 annually. For the fourth and fifth year, it will increase to Rs 2,000 per month, which will be Rs 20,000 annually.

The CBSE scholarship 2025 is sponsored by the Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education, Government of India. Students can apply for the scholarship scheme on the national scholarship portal - scholarships.gov.in.
Students can also apply for the renewal of their scholarship during this time period - first renewal for the year 2024, second renewal for the year 2023, third renewal for the year 2022, and fourth renewal for the year 2021.

The CBSE scholarship scheme can be availed for five subsequent years, for both undergraduate and postgraduate studies.
A total of 50% of the scholarships will be allotted to female students. For science, commerce, and humanities students, scholarships will be distributed in a respective ratio of 3:2:1. Among all the scholarships, 15% will be reserved for Scheduled Castes (SC), 7.5% for Scheduled Tribes (ST), 27% for Other Backward Classes (OBC), 3% horizontally for physically handicapped students among all categories.
The CBSE scholarship notice advises students to apply online within the stipulated time, and get their applications verified by the institutions. Failure of compliance will lead to the application being considered invalid.
