On Monday, the SC adjourned the hearing of a petition seeking cancellation of board exams 2021 to Thursday. The CBSE board was earlier expected to take a final call on the Class 12 board exams on June 1, 2021, after reviewing the COVID-19 situation. The exams were scheduled to be held on different dates in May and June. However, the exams have been postponed but not cancelled.

While hearing a petition seeking cancellation of CBSE 12th board exam 2021, the court was informed that the government will take a final decision on Class 12 exams. The hearing was adjourned to June 3 and the government was given time to take a decision on exams.

“You are free to take whatever decision. But there is hope expressed by the petitioner that policy adopted last year can be adopted this year too," said the Bench, reports NDTV.

During the hearing, the bench told the authorities, “If you depart from previous year’s policy give us good, tangible reasons.”

Earlier, the Education Minister said that there is a broad consensus among states about conducting Class 12 board exams and an “informed, collaborative” decision will be taken by June 1.

Recently the Union education minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ has been admitted to the All India Institute Of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) hospital, New Delhi, due to post Covid complications. The minister, Ramesh Pokhriyal, was tested positive for the coronavirus in April.
