In the notice, CBSE said that the extension follows a review of the application timelines under the SARAS 7.0 portal. The board had earlier issued circular no. 07/2026 on February 26, 2026, detailing the schedule for submission of various categories of affiliation applications for the 2027-28 session.

The official notice reads, "Furthermore, the timelines already expired during the period in which the SARAS Portal remained non-functional, has also been extended, in respect of applications submitted under SARAS 7.0. In all such cases, the applicant school is allowed an additional period of thirty (30) days from the date of issue of this notification for submission of "compliance after grant". A period of fifteen (15) days for submission of "compliance after deficiency at Part A level" is also allowed from the date of issue of this notification."
CBSE also mentioned in the notice that the revised schedule would also apply to all other time-bound activities with the affiliation process. The extension covers submission of consent by inspection committee members, selection and finalisation of inspection dates, conduct of inspections, submission of the inspection committee report, and all other related activities, which will now be carried out as per the revised timelines.
