CBSE approaches Delhi Police over coordinated cyber attacks on post-result services portal

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has filed a complaint with the Intelligence Fusion & Strategic Operations (IFSO) Unit of Delhi Police regarding a series of coordinated cyber attacks targeting its post-result services portal. The announcement comes days after several Class 12 students reported difficulties accessing the portal. The board launched the portal on June 2 to facilitate post-result services including verification of marks and re-evaluation of answer scripts.

In a press release issued today, on June 5, CBSE said the portal had been subjected to "repeated and coordinated cyber attacks" over the past three days. Board says that the attacks involved large volumes of malicious traffic originating from multiple IP addresses located both within India and abroad.

Portal targeted by coordinated attacks

The board decided to approach Delhi Police considering the scale and nature of the attacks. "The portal, launched on 2nd June 2026 to facilitate services such as verification and re-evaluation of answer scripts for candidates who had appeared in the XII Board Examination, was subjected to repeated and coordinated cyber attacks over the past three days," CBSE said in its statement.

Board claims that the apparent objective of the attackers was to disrupt the functioning of the platform and interfere with access for genuine users. "The apparent objective of the attackers appeared to destabilize the platform, deny access to legitimate users, and attempt unauthorized extraction of information by the elements inimical to national interest," the statement added.

CBSE's portal caters to lakhs of students and any disruption could affect a large number of stakeholders.

No data breach

Despite the cyber attacks, CBSE said its systems and databases remained secure throughout the period. The statement reads, "In view of the nature, scale, and coordinated character of these attacks, CBSE has approached the IFSO Unit for a detailed investigation and appropriate legal action against those responsible. It is emphasized that despite these malicious attempts, CBSE's systems and databases remain secure and uncompromised. No data breach or unauthorized access has been detected."

The statement comes amid growing attention on the board's post-result grievance redressal process. The board emphasised that all attacks were successfully mitigated and did not result in any compromise of student data or internal systems.

24×7 monitoring helped

CBSE credited continuous monitoring and cybersecurity support for preventing disruption to the portal."The attacks were successfully mitigated through continuous 24×7 monitoring and response mechanisms," the board stated.

It further said cybersecurity teams from several institutions and government agencies assisted in safeguarding the platform. These included IIT Kanpur, IIT Madras, Digital India Corporation, the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C), CERT-In and other Central Government agencies.
