NEW DELHI, AUGUST 17 : CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education) is likely to introduce major changes in the exam pattern of Class X & XII board exams from 2020. As per the media sources, students may find less descriptive and more objective type questions in almost all subjects. However, the difficulty level of the exam will remain the same. The board will shortly release the sample papers incorporating the new changes on its official website.
New Changes in CBSE Exams from 2020
1. There will be 33% internal choices. Out of 13-14 questions students have to attempt only 10 questions.
2. The question papers will comprise more two-mark questions and fewer five to eight marks in comparison to last year, 2019.
3. All CBSE X & XII subjects will have either internal assessments or practicals
4. The number of one-mark objective questions has been also increased.
CBSE official said, “The objective- type question (one-mark) will primarily in the format of 'fill in the blanks', single sentence answers, 'true or false' and multiple-choice questions. In fact, "even the two-mark questions will also be mostly objective type.”
CBSE 10th Hindi (B) paper and Class 12th Hindi (core and elective) and dances such as Odissi and Bharatanatyam are the only subjects that will contain less than 20% objective-type questions.
Anurag Tripathi, CBSE secretary said "The question papers will be developed scientifically without any compromise on quality. In fact, with more objective type questions, the students will need more detailed study. With internal assessment/practicals, students will move out of the habit of rote learning and schools can engage them with more experiential learning."
