CBSE remaining exam dates could be after May 23; results in June-end

NEW DELHI: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is likely to conduct the pending Class 12 and Class 10 examinations after May 23. The board is likely to announce the results by June end.
The Union human resource development minister, Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’, reiterated on May 5 that the CBSE will not conduct the remain exams for Class 10 except for students in north east Delhi who missed their exams due to riots in February.
A senior CBSE official, on condition of anonymity, has said that CBSE is likely to announce the remaining exam dates in a day or two. He said: “The decision related to finalising dates are still on and it will be done after consultation with the ministry. It will most likely be conducted after May 23.”

He further added that the board will take a minimum of one month for evaluation and declaring results. CBSE suspended all the class 10 and 12 examinations after Mar 19, due to the spread of coronavirus.
On April 29, CBSE issued a statement stating that it will conduct exams in only 29 subjects for Class 10 and Class 12 taken together and that these will be conducted after the nationwide lockdown is lifted. The CBSE statement read, “As a precautionary measure and in compliance with the instructions received from Secretary, Department of Higher Education/ School Education and Literacy, Government of India, dated 18th March 2020, CBSE had postponed all the board examinations that were to be held between 19.03.2020 to 31.03.2020.”
The CBSE’s March 18 statements on board exam dates said that “date sheets for the rescheduled board examinations shall be communicated by the board through its website and press release after re-assessment of the situation.”
The board also promoted students in Classes 1 to 8 and asked schools to promote those in Classes 9 and 11 as well, based on their school-based assessments.
