Download NowThe Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will hold a career awareness programme in Jammu on May 29 for principals, vice-principals, and school counselors from affiliated schools as part of its efforts to strengthen career guidance support for students.

The programme, focused on entrance examinations and career pathways, will take place at Jammu Sanskriti School between 10 am and 2 pm, reporting time is 9:30 am. CBSE said the initiative is aimed at helping educators better guide students on higher education opportunities, scholarships, internships, and emerging career options.
According to the board, the programme is being organised in line with the goals of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and recent CBSE guidelines that emphasise the need for stronger counseling systems in schools.
CBSE career programme details
CBSE said the awareness session is part of its larger effort to improve the career counseling ecosystem across affiliated schools. With students today exploring a wider range of career choices than ever before, the board believes schools need stronger guidance systems to help them make informed decisions.

The board circular reads, “The CBSE has been organising Career Awareness Programs to strengthen the career counseling ecosystem in CBSE-affiliated schools and to enhance awareness among students, parents and educators regarding higher education and career pathways.”
"The Principals/ Vice Principals and Counselors are therefore encouraged to register and participate in the program which aims to enhance the career guidance framework for students. For queries, please contact: cbsecareer.counseling@gmail.com," the circular reads further.
Officials said the programme will also help principals and counselors understand changing trends in higher education and career planning so they can provide better support to students.
Scholarships, internships and career options
During the programme, participants will be introduced to opportunities related to scholarships, internships, entrance examinations, and higher education across different fields.

CBSE said one of the key objectives is to create greater awareness about new and emerging career pathways while also encouraging schools to align their counseling practices with the vision of NEP 2020.
The board added that registration for the event will be done on a first-come, first-served basis because of limited seats. The selected participants will receive the confirmation mail. While there is no registration fee, participants will have to manage their own travel and accommodation expenses.
