CU UP Conclave 2025: The university has signed several agreements with tech companies to boost skill training, campus placements, and industry collaborations.

NEW DELHI: The Chandigarh University (CU) Uttar Pradesh has hosted the ‘UP AI Synergy Conclave 2025’ today on campus. The conclave aimed at filling the gap between education and industry for students in artificial intelligence (AI) driven careers, as per the official statement by the university.
At the conclave, the Chandigarh University Uttar Pradesh has signed several agreements with tech companies to boost skill training, campus placements, and industry collaborations, the university said.
Worth Rs 2,500 crore investment has been made to the university to boost opportunities for UP students, it added. Kapil Dev Agarwal, a UP minister, said that Chandigarh University Lucknow’s ₹2500 crore investment will create opportunities for students from Uttar Pradesh. Agarwal also highlighted Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of positioning India as a global AI leader, as seen in his artificial intelligence presentations in France and the US.
Agarwal also praised PM Modi’s goal of making India a 5 trillion dollar economy, “stressing the need for skilled youth who are not just job seekers but job providers.” He acknowledged MP and CU Chancellor Satnam Singh Sandhu for establishing Chandigarh University Lucknow, which will play a key role in shaping the future of AI and empowering students with industry-relevant skills.
“The UP government is actively collaborating with Tata to enhance skill development and ensure a skilled workforce for industries. Additionally, a 170-acre AI hub is being developed in Lucknow to drive technological advancements,” the university said.
Last month, the Chandigarh University bagged the Maulana Abdul Kalam Aza (MAKA) trophy 2024 for Indian sports excellence.
Speaking at the conclave, Sandhu, stressed on India’s growing global prominence, “citing the Mahakumbh Mela's record 40 crore visitors and the UP government's commendable arrangements.” He also pledged AI-driven solutions for future events, with Chandigarh University Uttar Pradesh leading the way. He noted India’s Rs 10,000 crore investment in AI and UP’s Rs 1000 crore AI hub.
Explaining the importance of the agreement signed by the university with the tech companies, Jai Inder Singh Sandhu, managing director of Chandigarh University, said that the collaborations will promote education-industry synergy to provide AI skill development, placement opportunities, practical training, and real-world experience for students.

The partnership will lead to AI-focused technology transfer, the creation of technology labs, workshops, and curriculum development, helping students acquire the skills needed for the AI-driven future, the university said.
Sandhu added by saying that these initiatives will ensure that students of Chandigarh University Uttar Pradesh are equipped with industry-relevant skills and mentorship from experts, preparing them to be part of the global workforce.
Over 30 CEOs, founders, and AI experts, including Varun Agarwal, founder at Change Engine; Shailesh Kumar, chief data scientist, CoE AI, ML at Reliance Jio; Abhilasha Gaur, CEO at Nasscom; Maya Sherman, AI Expert, GPAI; Umesh Kataria, AVP at EXL Digital; Rishabh Nag, co-founder at Humanli.AI; Aman Singal, head of digital and analytics (DnA CoE) at JK Tyre & Industries Ltd, and others also participated in the conclave.
