Chandrayaan-3: Over 2 crore UP school students watched soft-landing; says government

The UP government opened schools in the evening for the 1st time to watch the Chandrayaan-3 landing.
NEW DELHI: The Uttar Pradesh school children on August 23 witnessed the historic Chandrayaan-3 mission’s soft-landing on the moon. According to the UP government, more than two crore children from all the government and private schools in the state watched the live telecast of the process.
The government opened the schools for the first time in the evening to watch the Chandrayaan-3 landing and a special assembly was organised for the event.

According to the government, projectors and televisions were arranged for live telecast of Chandrayaan-3 in the schools. Also, arrangements were made to show it to children on smart classes and laptops. The teachers in their respective schools gave all the necessary information regarding the Chandrayaan-3 mission to the students.
The secretary, Basic Education Department, UP, Vijay Kiran Anand stated that the successful landing of Chandrayaan-3 was broadcast live in all the schools of the state. The school students got detailed information related to the mission and were also inspired to join the space missions and pursue studies in the field of science.

The University Grants Commission (UGC) had asked all the higher education institutions in the country to livestream the event to facilitate student viewing.
M Jagadesh Kumar, chairman of the University Grants Commission said: " Chandrayaan-3 serves as a moving reminder; a deeply touching tribute to our scientific capabilities and visionary action. The education community and UGC pay humble salutations to ISRO."
