NEW DELHI: The Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) 2025 results are under judicial review due to errors in the final answer key. On December 20, 2024, the Delhi High Court directed the Consortium of National Law Universities (NLUs) to revise the CLAT 2025 results.
The Delhi High Court identified two errors in set A of the question paper and asked for CLAT 2025 result revision accordingly. The errors are reported to be in questions 14 and 100. In Set A, the answer to question number 14 was changed to option C, and question number 100 was withdrawn with corresponding changes in other sets.
As per the latest update, candidate challenging the CLAT 2025 results intend to approach the Supreme Court to seek a transfer of related cases. Aditya Singh, a 17-year-old petitioner who appeared for the CLAT 2025 exam, informed the Delhi High Court that he plans to move to the Supreme Court since similar cases are pending in multiple high courts, according to Bar and Bench. Acting Chief Justice Vibhu Bakhru and Justice Tushar Rao Gedela adjourned the CLAT 2025 result case to January 30 following Singh’s request.
Aditya Singh has filed a petition challenging the single-judge bench’s decision, which dismissed three of his objections to the CLAT 2025 answer key while upholding two others. He alleges errors in the three CLAT 2025 questions- question number 37, 67, and 68 in Set A. The petitioner is seeking further revision of the final answer key.
As per the Consortium of NLUs, the CLAT 2025 final answer key was prepared by experts after thorough evaluation. Following the High Court's decision on December 24, the Consortium announced on its official website that it plans to challenge the verdict in the Supreme Court.
After the division bench of Delhi HC refused to intervene the single bench order, the Consortium of NLUs’ issued an official notice which read, “We wish to inform you that the single bench of Hon’ble Delhi High Court had issued an order directing the Consortium to revisit the Merit List published on December 7, 2024. In response, we filed an appeal in division bench of Delhi HC, however the division bench didn’t intervene the single judge bench order. We are approaching the SC for appropriate relief against this order at the earliest available date due to vacation.”
The Consortium of NLUs has also postponed the CLAT 2025 counselling process. The Consortium's official notice read, " the release of the first admission list for NLUs, originally scheduled for December 26, will be delayed and there on the counselling process. The fresh calendar to be announced after our SC appeal process and expected relief. "
A revision in the CLAT 2025 results will impact candidates in several ways:
