There are 22 NLUs participating in the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT). Candidates can select a minimum of five NLUs while giving admission preferences. There is no limit on the maximum number of NLUs candidates can select.
Giving admission preferences can be tricky as the exam is yet to be conducted. Choosing an NLU becomes more complicated as the consortium will consider candidates for admission to only those NLUs to which they give admission preference. They will not be considered for admission to remaining NLUs even if some seats are vacant in such NLUs and the candidates have a higher rank than the NLU cut-off.

Therefore, candidates should carefully select NLUs considering various factors such as courses and seats offered by NLUs, course eligibility and fees, their ranking in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2022 for law schools, placement records and other such factors.
