NEW DELHI: National Law School of India University (NLSIU) Bengaluru continues to retain the position of top law school in the country according to the education ministry's National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF Ranking 2022). The education minister Dharmendra Pradhan announced the NIRF ranking 2022 today. The National Law University (NLU) Delhi and Symbiosis law School Pune are the second and third-best institutions for legal education in the country. Symbiosis Law School has climbed eight positions in one year.

Separate ranking lists were announced for universities, engineering, medicine, law, management, dental and research. Ranking list was also announced for colleges. The colleges and universities are ranked as per predefined parameters that include teaching and learning resources; research and professional practice; graduation outcomes; outreach and inclusivity; and perception.

NIRF ranking 2022

In last year's NIRF ranking too, National Law School of India University (NLSIU) Bengaluru, National Law University (NLU) Delhi occupied the first and second position. Symbiosis Law School, a private institution, has replaced NALSAR University of Law Hyderabad in the top three. The NIRF ranking list for law is given below.

NIRF Ranking was launched in 2015, the rankings were announced in April – before the admission season – until COVID-19 disrupted the schedule. In 2016 and 2017, there was no separate ranking of law colleges. It started in 2018 and NLSIU Bengaluru was ranked in the top position. The ranking exercise covers 10 categories which include overall, universities, engineering colleges, medical colleges, pharmacy, management, architecture, law colleges, research and dental.
