CLAT UG Counselling 2025: First provisional allotment list out; pay confirmation fee by May 30

The Consortium of National Law Universities (NLUs) has issued the first allotment list for Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) 2025 counselling today, May 26, 2025. Candidates who participate in the CLAT UG counselling can check the seat allotment list through the official website, consortiumofnlus.ac.in.

As per the official notice issued earlier, candidates will be considered only for those NLUs that they have included in their preference list. “If a candidate has chosen only fifteen preferences, then he/she will be considered only for allotment in those fifteen preferences and not to any other NLUs, even if vacancies are available in other NLUs, though he or she might be otherwise entitled to by the merit list,” the official notice said.

CLAT UG Counselling 2025: Admissions counselling process

The CUET UG counselling 2025 will take place in three rounds. Candidates whose names appear in the CLAT UG first allotment list can exercise the ‘Freeze’, ‘Float’, or ‘Exit’ options as per their admission preference and pay the confirmation fee by May 30.

• Freeze Option: If a candidate is satisfied with the allotted seat, chooses to accept it, and does not wish to participate in any further rounds of seat allocation or counselling, they can opt to ‘freeze’ the seat.
• Float Option: If a candidate has not been allotted their first preference NLU and wishes to keep the option open for securing a higher preference seat in the subsequent rounds, they may choose the ‘Float’ option.
• Exit Option: If a candidate decides to withdraw from the counselling process at any stage after completing the registration, they may opt for the ‘Exit’ option. In case the candidate had previously selected the Float or Freeze option, the seat allotted to them will be offered to another candidate, and the confirmation fee will be forfeited.

In order to ‘Freeze’ their seat in the first, second, third round of counselling, the candidates pay the non-refundable confirmation fee of Rs 20,000. The second allotment list for CLAT UG 2025 will be published on June 4. The payment of the confirmation fee and admission process by the NLUs for candidates in the second allotment list will be conducted from June 4 to June 9, 2025.
