NEW DELHI: Despite Delhi University having refused de-affiliation of College of Arts (CoA) from the university, the college has started the admission process as part of Ambedkar University, the DU teachers claimed. The teachers of Delhi University have written to the vice chancellor Yogesh Singh seeking intervention in College of Art (CoA) admission.

Eleven DU teachers, including EC members Seema Das and Rajpal Singh Panwar, and AC members C M Negi, Kapila Mallah, Alok Pandey and Sudhanshu Kumar, wrote to DU VC Yogesh Singh in this regard.

“This is to bring to your urgent attention that the Principal of College of Arts , has formally started the admission process in BFA & MFA (Bachelors and masters in fine arts) courses for the academic session 2022-23, as a part of Ambedkar University. This development is consequent upon a meeting to this effect held on 9.5.2022,” the teachers wrote in the letter.

“Such an unfortunate action is in contravention of the Acts and Statutes of Delhi University and also violates the decision of the Executive Council which has duly rejected the de affiliation of College of Arts from Delhi University,” it said.

It should be noted here that the Lt Governor has clearly ruled that any such step towards merger is subject to 'the de-affiliation of College of Arts from Delhi University'.

The Delhi University Teachers' Association ( DUTA ) recently claimed that students seeking admission to the College of Arts through the DU's National Testing Agency (NTA) portal were unable to register as it is not showing in the list of colleges.

Earlier in April, the university decided to not merge the College of Arts with the Ambedkar University after students of demanded the cessation of merger of the institute with the Delhi government-run Ambedkar University
