The student union said its demands include expansion of library seating and better academic facilities, while the administration maintained the biometric gates were introduced as a security measure after derogatory slurs were found scribbled on a desk.
Police said the student, identified as Dibyanshu Pandey from Samastipur in Bihar, had been undergoing treatment for depression after his father’s death. He died at Tata Main Hospital, a day after consuming poison in his hostel.
