Coronavirus lockdown: AP SSC Class 10 exam 2020 postponed

NEW DELHI: In view of the COVID-19 pandemic and lockdown across the country, the Board of Secondary Education, Andhra Pradesh (AP), has postponed the Class 10 examinations.
The AP Class 10 or SSC (Secondary School Certificate) examinations were previously scheduled to be held from March 31 to April 8.
Adimulapu Suresh, the state education minister told The Indian Express : “To arrest the spread of coronavirus, the government has postponed the SSC exams. The revised exam dates will be announced soon.”
Suresh informed India Today that the new or revised AP Class 10 exam date sheet will be released soon. He added that the exams have been postponed for at least two weeks and will now be held only after April 15, 2020. The decision would be taken on March 31 depending on the prevailing situation then.
Over 6.3 lakh students were set to write the exam, according to the report.
Many states, including Rajasthan, Punjab, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Chhattisgarh have postponed their board examinations for Class 10 and Class 12 amidst preventive measures being taken across the state and country to contain the spread of coronavirus. The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) have also postponed the Class 10 and Class 12 board examinations and evaluation process till March 31.
The country has initiated a 21-day lockdown till mid-April.
