IIT Kanpur cited CSJMU’s SWAYAM–NPTEL coordination and student participation, with enrolments from over 700 affiliated colleges.
Chhatrapati Shahu Ji Maharaj University (CSJMU), Kanpur, has been conferred the Study Webs of Active-learning for Young Aspiring Minds— National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning (SWAYAM–NPTEL) aspirant award by IIT Kanpur for its performance in digital and technology-enabled higher education, the university said in an official press note.
The award was presented during the SPOC felicitation workshop held at IIT Kanpur, it added.
Officials at IIT Kanpur cited CSJMU as one of the most organised and effective institutions in Uttar Pradesh(UP) in terms of SWAYAM–NPTEL utilisation, student participation and institutional coordination, the press note said.
They described CSJMU’s model as “exemplary and worthy of replication across Uttar Pradesh,” highlighting its “strong administrative and academic initiatives.”
According to the official note, CSJMU’s strategy, built on “clear policy-level decisions, effective communication with affiliated colleges, regular monitoring, and active coordination at the grassroots level” has helped translate the objectives of the SWAYAM–NPTEL initiative into tangible outcomes.
SWAYAM–NPTEL drive: 700 colleges join
The recognition also places CSJMU among the top-performing state universities in Uttar Pradesh under the framework, with student enrolments coming in from more than 700 affiliated colleges, the note stated.
The university administration in the press note said the achievement reflects coordinated efforts by its academic and administrative units under institutional leadership.
It added that CSJMU integrated SWAYAM/NPTEL courses into its academic system following a Government Order issued by the Uttar Pradesh government and a decision taken by the Academic Council in 2024.
To facilitate participation, CSJMU has issued a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) simplifying steps for student registration on the SWAYAM portal, selection of CSJMU as a local chapter, course search and enrolment, and access to lectures. It also highlighted the availability of multilingual transcripts to improve accessibility for learners.
The university called on principals and faculty members to sustain participation, expressing confidence that continued collective efforts would help CSJMU move towards “top national-level honours” under the SWAYAM–NPTEL initiative in the coming years, the press note added.
