CTET 2024 registration closes tomorrow; eligibility, qualifying marks

NEW DELHI: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will close the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET 2024) registration tomorrow. The CTET 2024 exam is set to be conducted on January 21.

The CTET 2024 exam consists of two papers - paper I is for appointment of teachers for Classes 1 to 5, whereas paper II is for appointment of teachers of Classes 6 to 8. The CTET 2024 exam paper will include only multiple-choice type questions (MCQ), each question carries one mark, and there will be no negative marking for incorrect answers.

CTET 2024: Eligibility criteria

Paper I

Candidates should meet the eligibility criteria to be considered for recruitment.

  • Candidates should have passed Senior Secondary (SSC) or Class 12 exams with a minimum of 50% marks or appeared in the final year of the two-year Diploma in Elementary Education (DEd).

  • Should have completed Class 12 exams with a minimum of 45% marks or appeared in the final year of the two-year DEd in accordance with rules mentioned in Recognition Norms and Procedure (NCTE), regulations, 2002.

  • Passed Class 12 exams with a minimum of 50% marks or appeared in the final year of four-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (BElEd)

  • Passed Class 12 exams with a minimum of 50% marks or appeared in the final year of two-year Diploma in Special Education

  • Graduation in any stream with a minimum of 50% marks and a BEd degree.

Paper 2

To be eligible for teacher recruitment for Class 6 to 8, applicants should have any one of the qualifications given below.

  • Should have completed graduation or appearing in the final year of a two-year D Ed

  • Graduation with minimum 50% marks and passing or appearing in a one-year BEd course

  • Graduation with minimum 45% mark or appearing in one-year BEd in accordance with the rules and norms of NCTE.

  • Passed Class 12 exams with a minimum of 50% marks or appeared in the final year of four-year BElEd.

  • Passed Class 12 exams with a minimum of 50% marks or appeared in the final year of four-year BA or BSc Ed or BA Ed or BSc Ed

  • Graduation with minimum 50% marks or appearing in one-year BEd in Special Education.

As per NCTE notification, a candidate should score 60% or more in the CTET exam to be considered as a TET pass.

Steps to apply for CTET 2024

Candidates can follow the steps given below to apply for CTET 2024.

  • Go to the CBSE CTET official website, ctet.nic.in.

  • On the homepage, click on the registration option.

  • Register yourself by entering the required details.

  • Next, login using credentials generated during registration.

  • Fill in the application form.

  • Upload required documents and pay the fees.

  • Download and take a printout of the confirmation page.
