NEW DELHI: 79.54 percent of students appeared for the CUET 2024 day 2 exam held today, May 16, informed the University Grants Commission (UGC) chief Jagadesh Kumar. The National Testing Agency (NTA) conducted the Common University Entrance Test - Undergraduate (CUET UG) 2024 exam for Hindi, economics, mathematics, and physics. The papers were held in two shifts. Hindi paper recorded the highest attendance of 85% followed by economics and mathematics with 78% attendance each. 77.14% of candidates appeared for the physics subject.
CUET 2024 May 17 exam was held at 1,578 exam centres across India. Examinees wrote the test for a total of 15,81,749 combinations of subjects. With this, the testing agency has covered 27.29% of the total slots.
“This constitutes 27.29% of the total scheduled slots for students registered in pen-and-paper mode. Yesterday and today, we have covered 72% of the total students who have registered for CUET-UG. The average attendance today is 79.54% higher than yesterday,” said Kumar in a post on X (formerly Twitter).

“To make sure students get their first choice of test centre, NTA ensured that across the country almost every alternate district has a test centre particularly in tribal areas, hilly areas and north-eastern region,” the UGC chairman added.
CUET 2024 is being held in pen and paper mode from May 15 to 18. The CUET scores will be used for admission to UG programmes offered by central, state, private, and deemed universities.
