CUET UG 2026: The Students' Islamic Organisation of India (SIO) has urged the National Testing Agency (NTA) to postpone the Common University Entrance Test Undergraduate (CUET UG) exam 2026 scheduled on May 28. SIO India said the CUET exam date 2026 is expected to coincide with Eid ul-Adha across various parts of the country.

The move came to light when NTA issued the CUET UG 2026 admit card recently for the May 28 exam date, causing serious concern among students and parents.
SIO, in its official statement, noted that holding exams on significant religious festival dates could affect candidates' ability to travel, arrange accommodation and fulfil essential religious observances, mainly relevant for students appearing from distant examination centres
SIO India has submitted a memorandum to NTA demanding the postponement of the May 28 exam and citing concerns raised by parents.
SIO India has urged NTA to reschedule the CUET UG 2026 exam on May 28 to an alternative date and communicate the revised date at the earliest convenience so that students can make necessary arrangements.
“As a national testing body serving students from diverse social, cultural, and religious backgrounds, we believe that such concerns merit due consideration in the interest of inclusivity, fairness, and equal opportunity,” the official SIO India notice said.
NTA is conducting CUET UG 2026 exam in a computer-based test (CBT) from May 11 to 31 across the country and 14 cities abroad. Candidates can download the CUET 2026 admit card on the official website, cuet.nta.nic.in, using their login details.
As per NTA, a total of 15,68,866 candidates have registered for CUET 2026. Approximately 6,74,352 registrations are in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Delhi, and about 43% of the total originates from these three. Notably, 96.6% candidates were allotted their preferred exam centres who applied for a change in exam centre allocation.
