NEW DELHI: The Delhi government asked to close all government and private schools of Delhi in the areas where water is filling up due to heavy rainfall. In response to the worsening situation caused by waterlogging in certain areas of Delhi, the chief minister, Arvind Kejriwal made the decision to close schools in the affected regions. The move comes as there is heavy rainfall for many days in the city, leading to water accumulation and unsafe conditions.
Meanwhile, the Directorate of Education, GNCTD have issued a circular for taking adequate measures in view of the flood-like situation. It has also asked the government, government-aided and recognised private schools to close down in the east, northeast, north, south-east and central districts as waters of river Yamuna have crossed the danger mark and entered a few low-lying areas along the bank. As per the notice, the zonal and district authorities will remain in constant touch with these schools to provide support.
The decision to close schools aims to ensure the safety and well-being of students, staff and faculty members. By suspending educational activities in these waterlogged areas, authorities hope to prevent any potential risks or hazards that could arise from attending school under such circumstances.
