Delhi: Man barges into MCD school, sexually assaults two girls; principal says 'forget it'

The Delhi Commission for Women has issued a notice to the police and summoned the EDMC commissioner. An FIR has been registered in this matter.
NEW DELHI: Two girl students were sexually inside an MCD primary school in Bhajanpura area in Delhi by an unknown person on Sunday. When informed to the school principal and teacher, they were asked to “keep quiet” and “forget it”. The Delhi Commission for Women has issued a notice to the police and summoned the East Delhi Municipal Corporation (EDMC) commissioner in this regard.

The Commission was informed that on April 30, 2022, students were waiting for their teacher inside the class after the school assembly when an unknown person barged into the classroom. As per the complaint received, the man allegedly removed the clothes of a girl student and muttered obscenities to her and walked over to another girl and removed her clothes and his as well.
After the disgusting act, “The accused closed the classroom door and urinated in front of the class,” the commission said.
The Delhi Commission for Women were also informed that the principal and class teacher asked the students to “keep quiet about the incident and to forget it”. An First Information Report (FIR) has been registered in this matter.

The Delhi Commission for Women Act, 1994, mandates the commission to investigate and examine all matters relating to the safeguards provided for women under the Constitution and make recommendations to the Government on the issue of women safety.
The commission has written to the East Delhi Municipal Corporation (EDMC) Commissioner and asked to provide details of the accused immediately and the authorities responsible for the security lapse. It further asked if CCTV cameras were installed in the school and to provide the footage from 6 AM to 12 PM if installed.
