Delhi School News: Gurugram, Faridabad, Noida schools remain closed today

NEW DELHI: Amid fluctuating levels of air pollution in Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR), schools in Gurugram, Faridabad, and Noida remained closed today. The district commissioners of Gurugram and Faridabad ordered closure of schools up to Class 12 in rural and urban areas and directed schools to continue online classes.

Gurugram District Commissioner Ajay Kumar issued an order which noted poor air quality index (AQI) levels in almost all parts in the district. In the interest of the health and safety of school students, the order issued earlier on November 18 is being extended, the latest official order said. On November 25, online classes will be conducted in all government and private schools of Gurugram district, it added.

Issuing a similar order, Faridabad DC Vikram Singh said, "All physical classes for students up to Class 12 will remain closed till November 25.”

Earlier, the District Inspector of Schools (DIOS) in Noida ordered extension of school closure up to Class 12 in all schools across Noida and Gautam Buddha Nagar till November 25. The physical classes in Noida schools were suspended by the district administration earlier in view of deteriorating air quality.

Delhi government also announced suspension of physical classes and asked schools to switch to online learning until further notice.

The air quality in Delhi showed some improvement on November 24, as the AQI (Air Quality Index) dropped from the "severe" category to the "very poor" category. According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), the 24-hour average AQI recorded until 4 PM on Sunday was 318, compared to 412 the previous day.
