Delhi Sports University ties up with University of East London to train Indian athletes

Delhi Sports University offers graduation, post-graduation and doctorate degrees in Olympic sports. The campus is under construction.
NEW DELHI: The Delhi Sports University has signed an agreement with the University of East London (UEL) with the objective to provide sports training to Indian athletes and sportsmen. The UEL will help in designing sports university curricula and capacity building.
The University of East London is a public university located in the London Borough of Newham, London. According to Delhi deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia, who also handles the education portfolio, UEL is a world leader in sports education and science. "A historic day for Delhi Sports Univ!Signing an MoU with Univ of East London - a world leader in sports education & science, to provide advanced world-class training for athletes in Delhi. Under @ArvindKejriwal 's leadership, we will help our sports stars become world champions," said Sisodia in a tweet.

Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal said that the agreement between the sports university in Delhi and the East London University will provide world-class sports training to Indian sportsmen. "Congratulations all. Today we have signed an MoU with the University of East London for providing world-class sports training to Indian sportsmen This will prove to be a historic agreement for the entire country. Delhi Sports University will produce many medal-winning Olympians," tweeted Kejriwal.

Delhi Sports University is temporarily functioning from the Civil Lines area as the construction of the university campus in Mundka is in the initial stages . The university offers graduation, post-graduation and doctorate degrees in Olympic sports. A Delhi Sports School will also be established under the university. In 2021, Karnam Malleswari, the first Indian woman to win an Olympic medal, was appointed as the first Delhi Sports University vice chancellor.
