Delhi University 99th convocation tomorrow; over 1.5 lakh degrees to be awarded

NEW DELHI: The University of Delhi is all set to hold the 99th annual convocation ceremony tomorrow, February 25, 2023. The DU Convocation 2023 ceremony will begin from 9:30 am. President, Draupadi Murmu, will grace the occasion as a chief guest. The university will award degrees to more than 1.5 lakh undergraduate and postgraduate students in its 99 convocation ceremony.

As per the official DU release, a total of 170 students including 51 male and 119 female students will be awarded medals and prizes during the 99th convocation, while 47 students of DM/MCh will receive degrees in the medical field. Digital degrees will be awarded to 1,57,290 undergraduate and postgraduate students, which includes 54.7 percent female and 45.3 percent male students. A total of 900 students will be awarded PhD degrees on this occasion. This figure for PhD degrees is the highest ever in the history of the university.

The university has also issued special instructions for the orderly conduct of the ceremony. Candidates eligible to receive the degree have been advised to follow the instructions to maintain the sanctity and tradition of the ceremony. "As per instructions, invitation letter is mandatory for admission in convocation, which is non-transferable. It is also necessary to have a valid identity card issued by any government organization along with the invitation letter," the official statement read.

The university has strictly prohibited carrying handbags, cameras and any other electronic equipment inside the venue. Mobile phones and remote keys of cars etc. are also not allowed inside the venue. A parking facility is available at Gate No. 2C of the university. The university will also run a live telecast of its 99th convocation ceremony on its official website.
