NEW DELHI: The University of Delhi Academic Council (AC) hosted its 1021st meeting under the chairmanship of vice-chancellor Yogesh Singh. The meeting was held today, December 27, in the Council Hall of the University. The meeting began with paying tribute to former PM of India Manmohan Singh by observing two minutes of silence.

During the meeting vice chancellor directed all the principals and directors of all college to settle promotion cases by February 28, 2024.

A letter has also been issued by the college branch in this regard requesting the principals and directors to take necessary action to settle all the pending cases of promotion of teaching staff in colleges under respective CAS through IQAC of the college on a priority basis and complete the process by February 28, 2025.

AC approved implementation of NEP 2020 in PG courses

DU AC approved the implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 in the postgraduate (PG) programs of the university. Under this, the draft of “Postgraduate Curriculum Framework 2024” (PGCF 2024), based on NEP 2020, was also approved after thorough discussion, the official DU notice added.

While discussing the agenda of the meeting, the curriculum of various departments and programmes was approved based on the Undergraduate Curriculum Framework (UGCF).

Medical facilities to improve at the University

During the meeting, questions regarding health facilities were also raised, wherein DU South campus director professor Prakash Singh informed that on the instructions of the vice-chancellor, the work of making DU Health Center a four-story building has also begun to increase the facilities in the university.

The number of doctors will also be increased. He informed that a hospital of Railways has also been affiliated with DU to provide medical facilities for all the teaching and non-teaching staff of DU at par with the railway employees.

Increase in number of seats at DU colleges was also approved

Additionally, recommendations of the oversight committee to increase the admission in the DM (Neuroanaesthesia) course at GB Pant Institute of PG Education & Research (GIPMER) from two to four seats per year from the academic session 2025-2026 were considered and approved.

Further, admission to the BSc (Medical Technology) Radiology course at Lady Hardinge Medical College (LHMC) with 10 seats from the academic session 2025-2026 was also approved.

The suggestions of governing body of the Centre for Hindu Studies to start PhD in Hindu studies from the academic session 2025-2026 instead of 2024-2025 were approved. DU will also reserve additional seats for single girl students in PG courses under the supernumerary quota.
