Delhi University forms six-member panel to examine proposal for increasing seats in one-year PG programme

The University of Delhi (DU) has set up a committee to consider applications for additional seats in the one-year postgraduate courses currently run by different departments of the university for the academic year 2026-27.

The university has received applications for an augmentation in seats for the one-year post-graduate courses . The competent authority has set up a committee to discuss these requests and recommend action on them.

The committee has been requested to submit its recommendations within 10 days. The panel will review requests and make recommendations on appropriate actions to consider for the additional seat increase. The notification does not indicate how many more seats are being sought after by the departments.

A panel of six members

The committee will be headed by the dean (academic affairs). The other members are dean (admissions), dean (social work), head of the department of chemistry, joint registrar (legal), and deputy registrar (recruitment and promotion) who will act as member secretary of the committee.

The university has entrusted the committee with reviewing the requests received from different departments and suggesting the way forward for implementing the proposed increase in seats.

Eligibility criteria

In order to be eligible for this program, candidates in the UR/OBC-NCL/EWS category must receive 50% marks in aggregate or equivalent grade in the four-year undergraduate program under UGCF 2022 from DU, while candidates in the SC/ST/PwBD category must receive 45% in aggregate or equivalent grade in the same program.

Admission to 46 one-year postgraduate programs will be available at DU. Applicants may apply for more than one course, including an MSc in Biochemistry, an MCom, an MA in Arabic, or Bengali. More than 1,100 places in various disciplines will be available under the recently launched program.
