Delhi University reopens tomorrow for first-year UG students

Download NowNEW DELHI: University of Delhi will reopen DU colleges tomorrow (November 22) for first year undergraduate (UG) students. Delhi University colleges have already started holding orientation days for the new students to acquaint them with their respective colleges and departments.

The Shri Ram College of Commerce, Indraprastha College For Women, Gargi College and Ramanujan College will be holding their orientation days on November 22. The orientation programmes will be held in online mode and the classes will also be held in virtual mode.
As DU colleges prepare for resuming offline (physical) classes for students, the university recently issued guidelines against ragging .
Though the Delhi government gave its permission to schools and colleges in the national capital to resume offline classes from November 1, Delhi University said it cannot take a decision on complete reopening till the time the DDMA allows 100% seating capacity. However, it also said that it will hold a review meeting in this regard.
Later, the university released the DU academic calendar for first year UG students. As per the schedule, the Delhi University UG classes will begin from November 22 and exams for these students will be held in March next year.
DU students were protesting on campus and social media platforms demanding reopening of campus. The All India Students’ Association (AISA) was on hunger strike at DU Vice-Chancellor’s office to immediately reopen campus. In connection with this, there were reports on alleged manhandling and students being forcibly removed from the premises.
Meanwhile, DU PG admission against the first merit list 2021 started from November 18. Candidates can apply for DU PG admission 2021 till November 21. Verification and approval of admission will be done by November 22.
