NEW DELHI: The Vice Chancellor of Delhi Technological University (DTU) Yogesh Singh has been appointed as the new Vice Chancellor of Delhi University. The education ministry made the announcement today.
The ministry also announced that Neelima Gupta has been appointed as the Vice Chancellor of Dr Harisingh Gaur Vishwavidyalaya, Sagar.
Yogesh Singh has served as a dean in Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University from 2001 to 2006. Singh was appointed as the Vice Chancellor of Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda in 2011. In 2014, he joined as the director of Netaji Subhas Institute of Technology in Delhi before starting his tenure as the Vice Chancellor of DTU in 2017.
According to the Indian Express, SIngh is considered close to the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) backed Rashtriya Shikshan Mandal.
A professor of computer science and engineering, Singh had completed his Mtech and Phd from NIT Kurukshetra. Singh had done his Btech from Pune University.
Delhi University’s former Vice Chancellor Yogesh Tyagi was suspended on the charge of non-performance in October 2020. P.C. Joshi has been functioning as the acting Vice Chancellor ever since.
