DoE has suggested revisions in guest teachers' remuneration structure from a per-day basis to a fixed monthly remuneration based on basic pay and dearness allowances

The Delhi Directorate of Education (DoE) has issued a proposal to revise the remuneration structure for guest teachers, shifting from payment on a per-day basis to a fixed monthly remuneration of basic pay and dearness allowance.
According to DoE, currently guest teachers in Delhi PDT, including EVGC, TGT, miscellaneous teachers, and PRT engaged in Delhi government schools, are being paid remuneration on a per-day basis.
All guest teachers are engaged against sanctioned vacant posts of postgraduate teacher (PGT), trained graduate teacher (TGT), and primary teacher (PRT) in government schools and discharge duties equivalent to those performed by regular teachers. Therefore, their engagement is against existing sanctioned posts and does not add any posts.
As per the official notice, it is noted that DoE has proposed a fixed monthly remuneration structure based on basic pay plus dearness allowance (rounded off to the nearest rupee), which can be introduced as under:
Post / Designation | Basic Pay | DA @ 60% | Total Monthly Remuneration |
PGT (including EVGC) | Rs 47,600 | Rs 28,560 | Rs 76,160 |
TGT (including Miscellaneous Teachers) | Rs 44,900 | Rs 26,940 | Rs 71,840 |
PRT | Rs 35,400 | Rs 21,240 | Rs 56,640 |
The official documents dated October 15 propose a revision in guest teachers' remuneration structure to fixed monthly pay based on basic pay and allowances.
The remuneration payable to guest teachers shall comprise Basic Pay plus dearness allowance (DA) only, rounded off to the nearest rupee. Dearness Allowance shall be admissible at the prevailing rate of 60%, as revised by the Government from time to time.
Additionally, no house rent allowance (HRA) or any other allowance shall be admissible. Guest teachers shall be entitled to eight days of casual leave (CL) in a financial year on a pro-rata basis. Such leave shall neither be carried forward to the subsequent financial year nor be encashable.
For absence beyond the admissible eight days of CL, deduction will be made on a pro-rata basis at the rate of 1/30th of fixed monthly remuneration per day. The per-day deduction will be as under:
Guest teachers who have worked continuously and remain engaged prior to the commencement of summer vacation shall be paid fixed monthly remuneration during summer/winter vacation.
