One of India's prestigious management schools Bhavan’s S.P Jain Institute of Management and Research (SPJIMR) has declared that Dr. Ranjan Banerjee will continue as a dean for another five years. Bharatiya Vidya Bhava trustee and HDFC Chairman Mr Deepak Parekh, who is also the Chairman of the Institute’s Governing Body, made this announcement to the faculty body on May 28, 2020. Dr Banerjee had extensive experience in business, corporate training, academics and consulting. He holds a B.Tech from IIT Bombay, an MBA from IIM Calcutta and a PhD in Management from the Carlson School of Management, University of Minnesota, US. Dr. Ranjan Banerjee will begin his second term on 6th June 2020.
While making the announcement Deepak Parekh said “The Governing Council appointed a new leader at the Institute five years ago. Since then, we have been pleased at the visible progress made in a number of areas like curriculum enhancement, industry engagement, external standing, infrastructure, new faculty hiring, research culture and new initiatives like the Centre for Financial Studies. This has reflected in the institute figuring in the QS global list of the world's top 200 business schools. There are only five Indian Institutes to make it to this list and we are one of them. We believe that leadership continuity will be a significant enabler in the institute's future progress and wish every success to Ranjan and the team at SPJIMR.”
SPJIMR Achievements and Programs
SPJIMR has achieved many milestones in recent years. The institute received the prestigious AACSB accreditation in 2018. AACSB Accreditation has been earned by only 5 percent of the world's schools. SPJIMR has also started a unique Post Graduate Management Programme for Women (PGMPW) ( to bring talented women back to the workplace) and a Fellow Programme in Management (FPM). An innovative executive in residence program for accomplished industry leaders has been started. SPJIMR has steadily improved its position in global and national rankings. The institute has won three global innovation awards from AACSB and AMBA, and has received multiple awards on the national stage. In his message to faculty, staff and students, Dr Ranjan Banerjee said “It has been a privilege to lead SPJIMR. If we have made progress, it is because of the unstinted and collaborative efforts of faculty, staff, students and alumni. There is much left to be done, and I look forward to working with the SPJIMR community to take the institute further.”
