DU SOL launches one-year PG programmes in ODL mode for FYUP graduates from 2026-27

The School of Open Learning (SOL), University of Delhi, has launched one-year postgraduate (PG) programmes in the Open and Distance Learning (ODL) mode for graduates of the Four-Year Undergraduate Programme (FYUP) from the 2026-27 academic session.

The newly introduced programmes will be available from the July-August 2026 academic session. The SOL will offer one-year master's programmes in commerce, political science, history, Hindi, and Sanskrit. The registration process for admission to these courses will commence soon.

According to the university, the one-year PG programmes are open to students who have completed a four-year undergraduate degree, subject to the prescribed eligibility criteria and regulatory provisions.

Clarifying that the new courses will complement the existing postgraduate offerings, SOL Director Payal Mago said the one-year master's programmes have been introduced as an additional option for eligible students.

Mago said, "The introduction of one-year Master's programmes will not affect the existing two-year postgraduate programmes offered by the School of Open Learning (SOL). The one-year Master's programmes have been introduced as an additional option for eligible graduates. Both the one-year and two-year Master's programmes will be offered concurrently, providing students with greater flexibility while upholding SOL's commitment to quality higher education. SOL will continue to admit students to its two-year Master's programmes also through the existing admission process.”

One-year PG courses to benefit FYUP graduates

The university said the initiative is expected to benefit students enrolled in both the regular and ODL modes of the University of Delhi. It noted that limited seats in regular postgraduate programmes often leave eligible candidates without immediate admission opportunities. The new one-year ODL courses will allow FYUP graduates to continue their higher education without a gap in their academic journey.

Apart from the new postgraduate programmes, SOL has also introduced 'Data Analytics' as a minor elective course in its undergraduate curriculum in line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.

The university said the elective will be offered to students pursuing a BBA (Financial Investment Analysis), Bachelor of Management Studies (BMS), BA (Hons) Economics, and BCom (Hons). The course aims to promote multidisciplinary learning, provide greater academic flexibility, and help students build skills beyond their core discipline to improve their academic and career prospects.
