The student group in an official statement said that it received multiple reports that the faculty members linked to RSS-BJP backgrounds are being forced to cast votes in the name of absent students, directly undermining the democratic process of student elections.
“I warn the university administration — if there is any complaint of false voting in any college, the culprits will have to face serious consequences. We demand that Delhi University ensure a completely free and fair voting process without interference or manipulation,” NSUI national president Varun Choudhary said.
He further claimed that the ABVP is resorting to “vote chori” (vote theft) out of fear of the growing student support for NSUI. The students’ group reaffirmed its commitment to uphold the voice of students and safeguard the democratic values of the university.
Joslyn Nandita, a student pursuing MA in Buddhist Studies, has been nominated to be the face of NSUI. She is the first woman to be fielded for the presidential post in 17 years. The NSUI has named Rahul Jhansla for the post of vice president, Kabir for secretary, and Lav Kush Badhana from Zakir Husain College for joint secretary.
NSUI on its official X account wrote: “ABVP, in collusion with the DU administration, is tampering with the EVMs. Complaints are coming in from various places that the ABVP candidate's name is being highlighted on the EVM with blue ink and attempts are being made to intimidate and threaten students.”
ABVP has not responded to the allegations yet.
